Grounding for Justice
Helping to build a more compassionate and just society
Peace Hill is a 25-year-old community, fulfilling a mission to nurture and teach contemplative and restorative practices to build a more compassionate and just society. Peace Hill believes the work of deliberate and effective action for social change cannot be done without practices that support peace within and among each of us. Peace Hill understands contemplation as work of the heart using modalities such as meditation, prayer, mindfulness, reflection, and silence to slow our pace and awaken us to the mystery and connectedness of all life. Building a Lasting Legacy

Peace Hill at Avila is a work of the heart that connects us to all living things. We tune our hearts to hear the wisdom of the ancients, to sensitize us to the immediacy of the present challenges and inspire us to use our many gifts and resources toward a more just and peaceful world.
We believe our work is vital to individuals and organizations who are creating a better and more sustainable future. Beyond supporting justice work, strengthening one’s inner and spiritual life is in itself a pathway to a more just world.
By reaching into the deep well of ancient wisdom, by organizing alongside and supporting the work of activists and organizers, and by providing a contemplative presence in the broader community, we are building a lasting legacy.
Come and walk with us on this journey.

President, Peace Hill at Avila
